PLANO, Texas — Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Plano now offers a new minimally invasive surgical option for bariatrics procedures.
The Levita Magnetic Surgical System® MARS system, an FDA-approved surgical platform, innovatively combines magnetic technology and machinery to minimize incisions, enhance visualization, and streamline laparoscopic surgery. The system is approved for use in several types of high-volume abdominal surgeries, including bariatric, cholecystectomy, prostate, and colorectal procedures, and is designed to benefit patients with reduced pain, faster recovery, and better cosmetic results.
Dr. Chad Carlton, a physician on the medical staff specializing in minimally invasive bariatric surgery, performed the first procedure in Texas using the new system.
“Texas Health Plano is committed to growing our robotic surgical offerings with the goal to provide our patients with improved results with less downtime,” said Fraser Hay, Texas Health Plano president. “We are excited to be the first hospital outside of an academic medical center to offer this surgical procedure.”
